Managing Director, Financial Institutions, Standard & Poor's
Scott Bugie, Managing Director in the Financial Institutions (FI) Ratings Group, joined Standard & Poor’s in New York in 1987. Based in Paris, France since 1990, he is the Global Head of Banking Industry Country Risk Analysis and the European Head of Systemic and Macro Research for the FI industry. As such, Mr. Bugie leads the global department in research of broad analytical themes that influence credit in the FI sector. He also is one of the analytical leaders for Standard & Poor’s in the area of hybrid capital securities and other instruments in the financial institutions industry.
Prior to his present role, Mr. Bugie was the Global Criteria and Quality Officer for Financial Institutions Ratings, the regional practice leader for Financial Institutions Ratings in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EEMEA), and team leader for Southern Europe (France, Iberia, Italy and Benelux). Before joining Standard & Poor’s, he worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco for six years as a senior financial analyst in the Department of Supervision, Regulation, and Credit.
Mr. Bugie holds a Master of Business Administration in International Finance from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Soviet Studies and Russian Language and Literature from Ohio State University.
