Rustam Minnikhanov

President, Republic of Tatarstan

Since March 25, 2010 – President of Republic.

From June 16 to December 20, 2010, he was member of the Presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation. From 1996-98, he led the Finance Ministry of the Republic of Tatarstan.

From 1978-1980, Mr. Minikhanov was a Diagnostic Engineer at the Sabin Region cooperative Selkhoztechnica. In 1980-83, he held the positions of Senior Power Engineer and then Chief Power Engineer of the Sabin Forestry Administration. In 1983-85, he was Deputy BoD Chairman of the Sabin Consumer Society, and then, until 1990, headed the Management Board of the Arsk Consumer Cooperative. In 1990-92, he was Chairman of the Arsk Executive Committee, and in 1992-93 served as First Deputy Chief of Staff of Arsk Region. In 1993-96, he led the administration of Vysokogorsk Region.

Mr. Minikhanov graduated from Kazan Agricultural Institute, specializing in agricultural mechanization, as well as the Correspondence Institute of Soviet Trade, specializing in commoditization and organization of food trade. He has higher qualification in merchandising and holds a Ph.D in Economics.
