Michael Wexler is the chief investment officer and co-founder of Maple Leaf Capital, an investment management company with offices in London, Hong Kong, and Cayman Islands. The firm manages assets in the areas of statistical equity arbitrage, volatility trading, illiquid loans, fixed income momentum arbitrage, macro risk, and crash overlay strategies. The firm’s largest hedge fund, the Maple Leaf Macro Volatility Fund with peak assets of US$ 1 billion in 2008 was split into three parts in 2010 – macro, volatility trading (Maple Leaf Revolver Fund), and statistical arbitrage (Maple Leaf Bayonet Fund).
Prior to Maple Leaf, Mr. Wexler was at Credit Suisse First Boston in London for four years establishing and managing the single stock derivative trading group and then as a proprietary trader focusing on global single stock volatility and correlation trading. He began his career trading currency derivatives for five years with Citibank in Toronto and London. Mr. Wexler graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 1993.
