CEO, Strategic Initiative Corporation for Economy and Management of Japan
Kotaro Tamura is the CEO of the Tamura Institute, otherwise known as the Strategic Initiative Corporation for Economy and Management of Japan, which promotes international awareness of business, technology and culture in Japan.
Mr. Tamura is a former Senator for the Liberal Democratic Party and, while in government, held positions as the Deputy Minister of Fiscal and Economic Policymaking and Financial Affairs and as the Chairman of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Before entering politics, he was an M&A dealmaker at Yamaichi Securities and Chief Editor and Director at the newspaper Nihonkai Shimbun.
Mr. Tamura earned his Bachelors degree at Waseda University, his MBA from Keio University, his Law degree from Duke Law School and Masters in Law from Yale University and Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
He is appointed as a Senior Fellow at MacMillan Center for International Studies at Yale University, an Associate at Harvard University, the Senior Advisor to the China Europe International Business School and as an Honorary Associate of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
