Consumer & Retail: Rise of the Russian Middle Class

The mergence of the Russian middle class is expected to far outweigh the demographic impacts of an aging population. In the coming years, this is likely to be secular trend driving investment performance. Russia’s FMCG companies have been seeing a mixed set of results to date. We assess the dynamics of different sub-industries as players look for niches to introduce affordable innovation and search for pockets of growth. Our aim is to discuss the most pressing issues, analyze the sustainability of the current pace of recovery and asses which FMCG markets will be the most attractive for investment in 2011 and forward.
